data-mm-id=”_yq9httl48″>Patrick Mahomes won the MVP award last season in one of the most speculator showings in NFL history. And instead of suffering from a slump like most do after a season of that degree, Mahomes has taken it up several notches to a historic level. Yet, for some reason, his greatness is actually being under-discussed. The media right now is instead focusing on Daniel Jones, the Patriots, Dak Prescott, Antonio Brown, Baker Mayfield, and constantly recycled NBA topics. None of which have the long-term impact of what Mahomes is doing– playing the sport at the highest level it has ever been played at. The eye test is one part of this. Regardless of your knowledge of football, you watch this guy, and can diagnose his magnificence instantly. The debate between Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady has always centered around the belief that Rodgers is the most talented quarterback the game has ever seen. And yes, he was that. But everything he can do, Mahomes can do better. There is no throw Mahomes cannot make, and there is no throw that someone can make better. Even if you take away his breathtaking no-look passes, he is still making a mockery of the rest of the NFL weekly. But the eye test doesn't need to tell the whole story, because the facts finish it.Mahomes' stats are insert laughing emoji great. He has recorded a 100.0+ passer rating 16 times in his 20 career starts. In his first season as a starter, he joined Peyton Manning as only the second player to throw for 50 touchdowns and 5,000 yards in a season. And those numbers are in jeopardy of being dunked on because he has been that much better this season. Mahomes has been so electric, so unstoppable, so otherworldly, that he is on pace to throw for, wait for it: 6,384 yards and 58 touchdowns. No, really. Mahomes' opening slate of games this season have consisted of three consecutive outings of at least 300 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, and no interceptions. That has only been done in three straight games once before in the 100 years of the NFL's existence. And it was from Tom Brady during his legendary 2007 campaign. Mahomes is not just a stat-padder that doesn't translate to wins, either. His team is undefeated this season, had the best record in the AFC last season, and was one Dee Ford infraction away from making the Super Bowl. Mahomes is also doing this with uncertainty surrounding much of his key personnel. His superstar running back Kareem Hunt was cut at the end of last season, his top wide receiver Tyreek Hill was facing a suspension most of the offseason and is out now with injury. Not to mention the horrific defense KC trotted out last season. None of this has negatively impacted Mahomes, however. In fact, he has only gotten better as the weeks have progressed. He is an all-time talent. And it doesn't take hours of watching film to know it. As a player, Mahomes is already one of the best to ever do it. I mean, how is he not? Pick any other player, any point in history, and stack them up against Mahomes right now. It won't be kind to them. And unlike other players that have this impact (or even less), Mahomes isn't getting the attention he deserves. Maybe he doesn't have the swagger of Rodgers, the personality of Peyton Manning, the attitude of Favre, or the look of Brady. But on the field, he is dramatically more interesting than all of them. Mahomes is in the NFL what LeBron James was early on in the NBA — just better.Again, this is only his second year starting in the NFL.

Eddie Howe has signed a new long-term contract with Newcastle United on the eve of their first Premier League game of the season against Nottingham Forest.
Howe was appointed as Magpies boss last November on a deal until 2024 following the sacking of Steve Bruce.
Newcastle s wealthy owners charged the former Bournemouth manager with the task of guiding the club out of the Premier League relegation zone to safety at the start of a new era following their takeover.
It was very much mission accomplished for the 44-year-old, as the Tyneside club surged up the table to finish last season in 11th place.
Howe was on Friday rewarded with a new deal as his side prepare to take on top-flight newcomers Forest at St James Park.

Didier Deschamps has expressed concern about how the coach of the France women s team was ousted from power after a player revolt.
Three players, led by captain Wendie Renard, went public by stating they would not play on for Les Bleus under the then-existing regime.
The French Football Federation (FFF) elected to sack Diacre on March 9 after acknowledging her relationship with players had reached a point of no return which harms the interests of the national team .
It was a decision that ended a sometimes controversial reign, with the move coming ahead of France competing at this year s Women s World Cup, which takes place in July and August in Australia and New Zealand.

Bayern Munich attacker Thomas Muller has underlined the importance of Arjen Robben to the Bundesliga champions and hopes the Netherlands international will soon be fully match fit again.
The winger missed the latter stages of the 2015-16 campaign due to injury and made his comeback in the 4-3 friendly win over Lippstadt at the weekend.
However, Robben suffered a groin problem that will keep him out of action for six weeks and Muller has lamented the Dutchman s rotten luck.
Arjen s latest injury is extremely bitter for him, Muller told Spox.
I would not want to be in his shoes now. He had just fought back from another injury.
I hope that he will soon be fully fit again and will then be available for a longer period of time. Bayern need Arjen.…
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits rushing Jack Wilshere back from injury so the midfielder could play in Saturday s win over Norwich.
The 21-year-old, who was sidelined for the entire 2011/12 campaign, had sat out the Gunners previous four matches with an ankle injury before making his return at the Emirates Stadium.
Wenger reinstalled Wilshere to his starting 11 sooner than had been expected and the Frenchman concedes the England international was not completely ready for action.
But Wenger insists he was not ignoring the advice of the club s medical staff.
I rushed Jack back a bit; he was not completely ready, the manager told Arsenal s official website.
How careful must I be? To listen well to the medical advice and that is what I have to…
Wigan desperately need points from their meeting with West Brom on Saturday as the games run out in their Premier League survival bid.
Roberto Martinez s side occupy the final relegation spot and trail 17th-placed Newcastle by five points, albeit with a game in hand.
Their clash with West Brom at the Hawthorns is followed by a game against Swansea on Tuesday and the two fixtures will doubtless go a long way to deciding the club s fate.

Martinez s men are famed for their habit of escaping from the drop zone in the latter stages of the season and won seven of their final nine f…
Memphis Depay is expected to be out for the rest of the season due to a serious knee injury, says Lyon sporting director Juninho.
Depay was substituted at half-time during Sunday s Ligue 1 defeat at home to Rennes, having initially been hurt in a tussle with Hamari Traore.
The forward sustained a suspected anterior cruciate ligament injury to his left knee that could rule him out of action for several months.
Depay now faces a battle to return in time to feature for Netherlands at Euro 2020.
We expect Memphis injury to be quite serious, Juninho told OL TV.

Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller hope Bayern Munich will see the best of Leroy Sane next year after the winger was substituted on and off against Bayer Leverkusen.
Sane has had a tough time since joining Bayern from Manchester City for an initial €49million in July, being restricted to just five Bundesliga starts.
He was once again named on the bench for Saturday s trip to the BayArena but was introduced just after the half-hour mark for the injured Kingsley Coman.
However, the Germany international lasted only 36 minutes on the field before being taken off for Jamal Musiala with the game poised at 1-1 and Bayern chasing a goal.
Sane cut a frustrated figure as he made his way back to the bench but head coach Hansi Flick felt he had no other choice b…
Leicester City head into their crucial Premier League relegation clash at Burnley on the back of three successive wins, and manager Nigel Pearson wants no let up from his players.
After a 4-3 defeat at Tottenham on March 21, Leicester found themselves bottom of the table, seven points from safety.
Since that reverse, however, wins over West Ham, West Brom and Swansea City have breathed new life into their bid to avoid immediate relegation back to the Championship.
Pearson s side now sit 18th, behind Hull City by virtue of one goal s difference, while Saturday s hosts Burnley have replaced them at the foot of the table.
We ve been in decent form, we have to maintain that. Remaining games will impact those around us, but we must stay focused, Pearson said.…
